Ajey S. Alurkar, MD is a board certified Ophthalmologist in Clarks Summit, PA and brings 15+ years experience to the table. He also practices in Hazelton, PA and Honesdale, PA. Prior to relocating to NEPA area, he practiced in Atlanta for 10 years in a multi-specialty group asthe retina specialist. He is one of the few confirmed retinal specialists in the area that is dedicated to surgery of the retina and vitreous.

Dr. Alurkar operates at Geisginger CMC and Geisinger Pittston.

Ajey S. Alurkar graduated from University of Texas Health Sciences Center at San Antonio School of Medicine. He first completed a residency at LSU Health Sciences Center New Orleans School of Medicine. He then went on to complete a surgical Retinal Fellowship at Retina Vitreous of Texas, Houston.

Dr. Alurkar is currently affiliated with Geisinger Community Medical Center, Geisinger-Healthplex-Centerpoint, and Wilkes-Barre General Hospital.

Dr. Alurkar has extensive experience treating conditions like Age-Related Macular Degeneration, Wet Age-Related Macular Degeneration, Diabetic Retinopathy, and Retinal tears/detachments among other retina and vitreous diseases. He is also one of the few doctors in the area that treats Dry Macular Degeneration with modern injections.

Dr. Alurkar's office currently accepts new patients. Dr. Alurkar is board certified in Ophthalmology and accepts multiple insurance plans.
